February 20 - 24, 2012
In math this week we will be learning more about congruent figures; vertical, horizontal, and diagonal lines; lines of symmetry; and we will be reviewing geometric figures. We will also be creating our own geometric figures booklets as we go along. To guide us in our exploration of these concepts we will be using a variety of hand-on materials, as well as a website that allows us to manipulate shapes, AND provides interactive geoboards!!!!!!

In ELA study, we will be reviewing our high frequency words; learning the rules for words composed of consonant-vowel-double consonant; writing narrative compositions; and continuing with Judy Blume's Fudge-a-Mania. As ALWAYS, I encourage each and every student to bring in a book of interest to read during our allotted Independent Reading time.

Also, check out the San Antonio Public Library at mysapl.org to search their online catalog for availability and location of books.
We have a fun, very hands-on week in science - investigating soils. There's loam, sand, clay.....all of which we will develop a deeper understanding for their various properties. There's also a cool website that allows us to "shrink" ourselves down in order to take a better look at soil composition. To experience a closer look at the dirt on soil, click here!
